Steve Hirsch, Esq. has been a Rhode Island divorce mediator since 1995. At first trained in Massachusetts, he was chosen by the Chief Judge of the Family Court to be on the Family Court's initial mediation panel addressing mediation issues. He is a strong proponent of divorce mediation. Since then, he has received further intensive training during a two-week program at the Harvard University Program for Negotiation. Steve has taught mediation programs for various groups including the RI Bar Association.
Steve has helped hundreds of couples divorce without the headache and expense of a contested battle. He allows the parties to use their knowledge of their family and their goals to develop a parenting plan for their children; he further guides you through the financial aspects of dividing the family assets and debts.
Let Steve Hirsch help you by calling 401.352.1000 to schedule a first appointment when both parties attend and learn about the process, and if they feel comfortable, to begin the process. Write us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Usually, a divorce mediation takes 3 - 6 sessions, depending on the number of issues presented. Of course, a divorce with no minor children and no real estate can be resolved quicker than one with minor children, one or more parcels of real estate, a small business, retirement assets, investments, credit card debt and some non-marital assets. We serve all of Rhode Island, including East Greenwich, Narragansett, Cranston and Warwick. Actually, we are ready to service everyone in RI.
Each session can lest from 90 to 120 minutes. Steve does not suggest mediation sessions that start after 3:00 p.m. Experience has shown that people are tired at the end of their work day and that interferes with good listening and negotiation. The best time for mediation sessions may be in the morning are early afternoon. On occasion, Steve will mediate on a Saturday morning so you do not miss too much time out of work.
